Originally from Tampa, Florida, Austin Dowdy began his classical ballet training with Amanda Keeney prior to enrolling on scholarship at Orlando Ballet School under the direction of Peter Stark. He subsequently trained at Ballet Academy East, the School of American Ballet and Pacific Northwest Ballet before receiving a full music scholarship to attend Indiana University Jacob School of Music’s prestigious collegiate ballet department. Mr. Austin has performed numerous roles in works by notable choreographers including George Balanchine, August Bournonville and Merce Cunningham.
Mr. Austin moved to Fort Wayne in 2015 to dance professionally but chose to focus on teaching and choreographing at Project Ballet while pursuing dual MBA/MSM degrees. He enjoys spending time with his two dogs, Taco and Paco.
