Project Ballet - 2020 Summer Intensives

Summer is the perfect time to further your training, sharpen your skills, and grow as an artist. Project Ballet has become a hub for serious dancers who are seeking excellent summer ballet training to help them achieve their goals and improve their technique.

DETAILS

Our 2019 summer intensive is separated into two levels: the Junior (half day) Intensive and the Senior (full day) Intensive.  Students may enroll by the week to customize their schedule.

JUNIOR (HALF-DAY) INTENSIVE

The junior intensive is for dancers ages 6 to 13 years old who are enrolled in Project Ballet's Training Program Levels 1, 2 and 3 (or equivalent). Each week will include fifteen hours of study, including ballet technique, stretch and repertory rehearsals. Dancers who have previous experience en pointe will also have pointe lessons incorporated into their schedule. An informal performance for family and friends will be held each Friday. Classes will be taught by Project Ballet faculty and select PB alumni. 

JUNIOR INTENSIVE DATES:

Week #1 - June 15-19 from 9:30am-12:30pm

Week #2 - July 13-17 from 1:30-4:30pm

Week #3 - July 20-24 from 1:30-4:30pm

Week #4 - July 27-31 from 1:30-4:30pm

Week #5 - August 3-7 from 9:30am-12:30pm

JUNIOR INTENSIVE PERFORMANCE:

Fridays at either 12:00pm (Weeks 1, 5) or 4:00pm (Weeks 2, 3, 4)

JUNIOR INTENSIVE LEVELS:

Students will be separated into two or three levels each week, depending on enrollment. Levels will be based on previous experience, ability and age.

JUNIOR INTENSIVE ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Students may enroll by the week to customize their schedule. Those dancers who are placed in PB Level 1 or Level 2 for 2020-2021 are required to attend at least ONE week of the junior summer intensive. Those dancers who are placed in PB Level 3 for 2020-2021 are required to attend at least TWO weeks of the junior summer intensive.

TUITION:

$200 per week. A $50 deposit is due at registration and a payment plan option will be available at check-out. Tuition is non-refundable except in the case of an injury or illness documented by a doctor's note. A doctor's note must be produced by the Friday prior to the intensive starting, if a refund is to be given.

BEFORE AND AFTER CARE:

Dancers should be dropped off no more than 30 minutes early, and should be picked up within 30 minutes of the intensive ending. Before and after care is offered for an additional fee. Before care is available starting at 8:00am on Weeks 1 and 5, and starting at 12:00pm on Weeks 2, 3 and 4. Before care is $20 per week. After care is available from 1:00-5:00pm on Weeks 1 and 5, and from 5:00-7:00pm on Weeks 2, 3 and 4. After care is $20 per hour, per week. Please note that before care and after care is only lightly supervised. Students will need to provide their own snacks and should bring quiet activities like books, coloring books and board games. Electronics use will be permitted during before and after care.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:

New or guest students must contact mcleish@projectballet.org to set-up an audition. Enrolled Project Ballet students will automatically receive summer intensive level placement information and do not need to audition.

DRESS CODE:

FEMALES: Black leotard, pink tights worn under the leotard and over the feet and pink ballet slippers. Hair in a bun. No jewelry besides small earrings. MALES: Plain white fitted shirt, black footed tights, black ballet slippers and dance belt. No jewelry.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Please plan to bring a water bottle and a small healthy snack. There will be a short 15 minute snack break midway through each day of intensive.

ENROLLMENT: 

Enrollment is completed online. Tuition is non-refundable except in the case of illness or injury documents by a doctor's note. A doctor's note must be produced by the Friday prior to the intensive starting, if a refund is to be given. We can accommodate transfers to another week after registration is completed, but only if space is still available in the alternate week(s).

SCHOLARSHIPS:

Scholarships and tuition assistance are not available to the Junior (Half-Day) Summer Intensive.

SENIOR (FULL DAY) INTENSIVE

The senior intensive is for dancers ages 9 and up who have been placed in Project Ballet Level 4, Level 5 or Advanced (or equivalent). Each week will include approximately 30 hours of study, including stretch, technique, pointe, variations and repertory classes. Repertory and variations will be selected from the classical ballet cannon as well as more contemporary works. Each week will focus on a different selection of choreography. Classes will be taught by Project Ballet faculty, PB alumni and each week will feature at least one master guest teacher. 

SENIOR INTENSIVE DATES:

Week #1 - June 1-5 from 10:00am-4:30pm

Week #2 - June 8-12 from 10:00am-4:30pm

Week #3 - June 15-19 from 10:00am-4:30pm

Week #4 - August 3-7 from 10:00am-4:30pm

Week #5 - August 10-14 from 10:00am-4:30pm

Week #6 - August 17-21 from 10:00am-4:30pm

SENIOR INTENSIVE PERFORMANCE:

Fridays at 4:00pm

SENIOR INTENSIVE LEVELS: 

Students will be separated into two or three levels each week, depending on enrollment. Levels will be based on previous experience, ability and age.

SENIORS INTENSIVE ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Students may enroll by the week to customize their schedule. Those dancers who are placed in PB Level 4 or Level 5 for 2020-2021 are required to attend at least THREE week of the full-day PB Senior Summer Intensive and/or substitute equivalent attendance a pre-approved outside summer intensive. Those dancers who are placed in the PB Advanced Training Program for 2020-2021 are required to attend at least FOUR week of the full-day PB Senior Summer Intensive and/or substitute equivalent attendance a pre-approved outside summer intensive.

TUITION:

$275 per week. A $50 deposit is due at registration and a payment plan option will be available at check-out. Tuition is non-refundable except in the case of an injury or illness documented by a doctor's note. A doctor's note must be produced by the Friday prior to the intensive starting, if a refund is to be given. A quantity discount is available if registering for five or more weeks at initial enrollment. Receive $25 off each week when registering for five or more weeks at initial enrollment.

PARTIAL DAY OPTION:

A partial day attendance option, from 12:45-4:30pm will be available as enrollment permits, for a reduced tuition rate of $225 per week. Priority enrollment will be given to those students interested in the full day schedule. Partial day attendance will not count towards qualifying for the quantity tuition discount. Partial day attendance will also not count towards meeting the minimum attendance requirement for Training Program dancers.

SCHOLARSHIPS:

Students who need scholarship assistance can contact mcleish@projectballet.org to set-up a work study scholarship program. Work study students assist with young children's classes, assist with the Before Care program, and/or complete chores around the facility in exchange for scholarship assistance. Only a limited number of scholarships are available and tuition assistance families are given first priority.
