ENROLLMENT AND LEVEL PLACEMENT

The Junior Intensive is for dancers ages 6 and up who have been placed in Project Ballet Levels 1, 2 or 3 (or equivalent*). Students enroll by-the-session but may not enroll in two sessions in the same week.

Students will be split into two levels based on age, ability and school-year level. Each session will be limited to 19 participants.

*Guest or new students should contact the Artistic Director (mcleish@projectballet.org) to arrange for a virtual or in-person level placement evaluation.

SCHEDULE

Intensive will be from 9:15-11:45am OR 1:00-3:30pm, Monday-Friday. Each session will include 10 hours of classes, including classes in ballet technique, stretch, contemporary, variations, repertory and pointe. Students will also create a craft each week that is tied into a Ballet History lesson. Note: Only dancers who have previous experience en pointe will be assigned to pointe class. Classes will be taught by Project Ballet faculty and alumni. Students will have two 15-minute snack/water breaks each day.

TUITION

Tuition is $200 per week. A minimum $50 deposit (per week) is due at registration. A payment plan option will be available at check-out. Tuition is non-refundable except in the case of documented illness or injury documented by a doctor's note. A doctor's note must be produced by 4:00pm on the Friday prior to the Monday of the intensive week starting, if a refund is to be given. Please note, if the intensive is canceled by Project Ballet, then a full tuition refund will be provided to all registrants.

PERFORMANCE AND OBSERVATION

Due to the pandemic, we will not be holding a junior intensive performance this year. The junior intensive will be entirely training-focused with no performance component. Parent observation will be available, either in-person or virtual, depending on the restrictions of the county at the time of the intensive.

Males - Plain white or black fitted t-shirt. Black footed tights. Black ballet shoes or white ballet shoes with white socks. Dance belt. No jewelry. If tights can be rolled up over the feet, students may wear bare feet for contemporary classes. If tights are full footed and cannot be rolled up, ballet shoes may be worn for contemporary classes.

FOOD AND DRINK

Please bring a large water bottle, and two healthy non-messy snacks. Students will NOT have access to refrigerators or microwaves and should plan accordingly.

COVID PRECAUTIONS

As of now, we are planning to lift our mask requirement beginning on Tuesday, May 25. However, we will keep an eye on Covid metrics and restrictions in our county and will revert to requiring masks if/when it is prudent. In the meantime, we will continue to provide ample opportunity for social distancing and will limit student movement around the building.

LIMITED VIRTUAL OPTION

Students who are placed under quarantine or isolation will be encouraged to transfer to another summer intensive week, if enrollment availability allows. If a transfer is not possible, a quarantined student may participate in the full intensive schedule virtually, via Zoom. Please note that the Zoom option is not available for reasons outside of Covid mandated quarantine.

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Students placed in PB Levels 2 and 3 are strongly encouraged to attend at least three sessions of junior intensive to maintain level-appropriate progress and improvement throughout the summer months. While three sessions are strongly recommended, the minimum mandatory requirement is two sessions for students placed in Level 2 or 3 for the 2021-2022 school year.

Students placed in PB Level 1 are strongly encouraged to attend at least two sessions of junior intensive to maintain level-appropriate progress and improvement throughout the summer months. While two sessions are strongly recommended, the minimum mandatory requirement is one session for students placed in Level 1 for the 2021-2022 school year.

Project Ballet students who fail to meet the minimum attendance requirement for their level will be required to commit to a private lesson schedule in the Fall of 2021 that is equivalent to the training they missed in the summer.

If you are interested in joining us for the summer, please email the Artistic Director (mcleish@projectballet.org) for audition requirements and enrollment information. Enrollment for guest dancers will officially open on May 8, 2021.
