Level 1 students enroll in one or two ballet technique lessons per week, and have the option to enroll in weekly contemporary dance class, strength/flexibility class and boys classes. Level 1 students also have the opportunity to perform in our annual Nutcracker and Spring Concert, both held at the historic Embassy Theatre. Performing is optional in Level 1.
Level 1 dancers must also attend at least one week of our junior summer intensive program.
Level 1 at Project Ballet is not a beginning level. Level 1 students must have successfully mastered the concepts presented in our Preparatory Ballet classes before they can be considered for promotion into Level 1. New students with previous experience must be evaluated by the Artistic Director before enrolling. (In general, transfer students ages 7 and under will automatically be placed until our Preparatory class for one semester before being eligible to be evaluated for promotion to Level 1.) Transfer students ages 8 and up with significant previous experience should email mcleish@projectballet.org to be considered for admission into our Level 1 class.
