DESCRIPTION
Careful and detailed instruction teaches students the fundamentals of beginning ballet technique and gives them the tools they need to succeed in higher levels of dance training. The Preparatory Ballet classroom is extremely focused and children will be taught proper ballet etiquette and terminology.
ENROLLMENT
Open to male and female children ages 5-11 years old. Children must be willing to participate independently without a parent. The class is appropriate for beginners as well as children with previous experience in our preschool classes or preparatory classes.
SCHEDULE
Four day class session, meeting for 1 hour each day. Students will learn classical ballet skills every day, plus a basic introduction to ballet repertory/choreography and ballet history.
DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP
Parents should bring their child into the Project Ballet lobby and wait for class to begin. Please plan to arrive about five minutes early to change into ballet shoes and use the restroom, etc. A minute or two before class is scheduled to start, our staff will take attendance and have the children line-up in the lobby to head into the classroom. Once the children have left with their teacher to begin class, parents are free to leave or you may wait in our lobby. Please make sure to return promptly at the end of the hour class. Your child's teacher will bring them back out to the lobby when camp is over.
PARENT OBSERVATION
The last 20 minutes of class on Thursday will be open for parent observation. We will show you our new ballet skills and a short dance that we prepared for the performance!
